Visa Information for International Students
If you’re joining CSALT from outside South Africa, here’s what you need to know about your visa — it’s simpler than you think!
When You Arrive
You’ll enter South Africa on a free 90-day tourist visa. There’s no need to apply or pay for anything before your trip — you’ll receive it automatically when you arrive at the airport.
Extending Your Stay
Because the CSALT program runs for longer than 90 days, you’ll need to extend your visa while you’re in South Africa.
The extension costs around R2500.
You can only apply once you’re in South Africa — so no stress before you travel.
The CSALT staff will guide you through the entire process and help with all the paperwork.
Quick Tips
Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after the end of your stay.
Book your return flight within the initial 90-day visa period, and make sure the ticket can be changed once your visa is extended.
Keep a copy of your return flight details (within 90 days of departure) for when you arrive at immigration.
